Florea Primo Violin Case 4/4 Size Review

Florea Primo Violin Case 4/4 Size
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The fit on the compartment cover is over-sized--if you really work it the cover will very tightly fit into the step it supposed to fit into.
I bought this case from Woodwinds and Brasswinds (WWBW). First case the D-ring pulled out of stitching only after 1-1/2 days--case is still usable if you carry it only by the handle but we purchased it so my daughter could wear it like a back pack or over the shoulder. WWBW sent a replacement free of charge. It arrived a week later and the bottom D-Ring which was already defective was thrown in loose in the box; the person at the warehouse shipped a defective case and knew it was defective!
I called customer service for a full refund. Still waiting to see when they will credit my account. Spend a little more on a better case!

Pirastro Violino 4/4 Violin String Set - Medium - with Ball End E Review

Pirastro Violino 4/4 Violin String Set - Medium - with Ball End E
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A very nice set of strings. I found that the relatively lower tension of Violino really suits my violin and gives the sound a nice, singing tone that was not there before. It is quite pitch stable- except for the G, which needs to be tuned up almost every day (caveat- I am in India, where it is HOT and DRY right now in March). On the whole, a very nice experience.

VIOLINSMART Full Size 4/4 Red/Pink Electric Violin Complete Set Review

VIOLINSMART Full Size 4/4 Red/Pink Electric Violin Complete Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yes, It is good for practising, but NOT good for a beginner. I have 20+ years of experience playing the violin. The instrument has many disadvantages, starting with the pieces of the violin. The sound quality is ok. The items included are cheap (eg rosin, shoulder pad, headphones).
Steps to make the instrument better:
1. Get better strings: the strings that come w/ the violin will make your fingers bleed. For a seasoned pro like me that is sad because I have well broken-in fingers with both the violin and cello!
2. Change the tail/bridge/chin rest/pegs: The material it is made of gives a weird vibration when played. It does reduce frustration! Especially with the pegs!
3. Spend the money to get fine tuning pins. This will help in the tuning process! Again, less frustration!
4. Get a new bow!! WOOD is best! Cheap bows will sound like...well cheap.
5. The weight is heavy. You may want to consider this if you are buying this for a child.
Make sure you read the reviews!! You get what you pay for! If you want quality....buy something $200 or more. These $80 violins are exactly what you are paying for...cheap!

Got this by the recommendation from a teacher for my 11-year-old child and it fit just between the violin and her delicate shoulder and used it for a good number of years. This is a good support for beginning violinists.

Just joined a country band and took the advice of a long time professional fiddler and got this pickup. The sound is awsome. Infinitely better than the Fishman I was using. When I got the Baggs Para Acoustic DI to go with it, it got even better! Glad I took the great advice!

Flat Flesch 3/4 - 4/4 Violin Chinrest - Rosewood with Standard Bracket Review

Flat Flesch 3/4 - 4/4 Violin Chinrest - Rosewood with Standard Bracket
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Playing a violin/fiddle is not exactly ergonomic. Especially one setup in the usual way. And, you don't HAVE to play a violin exactly the way the staid proper teachers tell you to. After all, are you "play"ing music for fun or torture?
My neck and shoulder bound up when playing fiddle. I thought a better shoulder rest would help, so I bought a very expensive adjustable shoulder rest, one that hooks over the shoulder. It helped me some, but not much. I didn't know that there were options for violin chinrests (shape & placement) until I was searching for chinrest covers to ease that ridge on my regular chinrest that was digging into my jawbone.
Then I read that some people use a centered chinrest, some professional symphony players, even. And some teachers know the shoulder rest and chinrest options, and rather than trying to mold the person's body, setup the violin to fit the person. So, feel out where you naturally want the instrument to be, what works for your body; maybe a centered chinrest would put the fiddle where you're most comfortable. And, if you have allergies, check out information on the different woods used to make chinrests.
I'm thrilled with this flat flesch chinrest: it has no ridge to dig into my jawbone, and I'm holding my fiddle in a position that is much more natural and comfortable for my body. I don't have to turn my head or grip much at all using this chinrest. I've gone back to using my simple cheap shoulder rest, too, just for friction.

Thomastik Dominant 3/4 Violin String Set - Medium Gauge - Aluminum/Steel Ball-End E Review

Thomastik Dominant 3/4 Violin String Set - Medium Gauge - Aluminum/Steel Ball-End E
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Dominant strings sets the standard for synthetic violin strings, being one of the first to be marketed. It works well on many different types of violins since it is pretty decent, predictable and gives a middle of the road tone. When it is new, there is a slight metallic feel, but that goes away after it is stretched out. Some people like the metallic feel and insist on new Dominants. They do take a few days to settle in though and last about 2-3 months.
They feel supple under the finger and are not high tension strings. They start out on the bright side with good overtones but then they go dull. The E string is just ordinary, and many people substitute a different E string (such as Pirastro Gold). In fact Dominant sells sets with just the G, D, and A.

Kun Voce Violin Shoulder Rest 4/4-3/4 Size Review

Kun Voce Violin Shoulder Rest 4/4-3/4 Size
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Compared to most shoulder rests this one seems ridiculously over priced. However, as I have found over the last month of daily use it is worth the extra money. Yes, it is a neat thing that it is made from lightweight and highly durable carbon fiber but quite honestly the real advantage with this shoulder rest is it's adjustability to your own anatomy and playing style. With most other shoulder rests there is only one way to put them on the violin and to have it rest on your shoulder. This one permits you to adjust the positioning of the shoulder rest on the violin and thus the position of the violin relative to the player. It is well made with durable soft plastic feet that shouldn't dry out and crack. Unlike other shoulder rests which only offer three holes on each side you can adjust the width of the feet in a continuous manner with clamps. Initially I had to play around with the shoulder rest to find the optimal position but once that was found I was able to play without even noticing it and missing my old shoulder rest. There are a few downsides with this shoulder rest. The first there are no directions so as far as adjusting it and finding the most comfortable position you are on your own. The second is the price but a little shopping around you can generally find it less than the list price.

Premiere Artist Model CF Violin Bow 4/4 Size Review

Premiere Artist Model CF Violin Bow 4/4 Size
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Here's the deal. I am an advanced beginner, 3 years of self taught learning by ear. I thought technique and practice practice practice were the only way to bust through a plateau. Guess what, BUY A DECENT BOW. This new bow arrived yesterday and what a difference! I am sooooooo happy! It's the difference between trying to write a letter with a crayon or a fine point pen. I have no idea if it has the value of a $200 bow, a $80 bow or what, the sweet sound I now get from my fiddle is priceless. I do know that a year ago, the improved quality of a new bow would've been lost on me. You do need to put the time in.
The bow glides nicely on the strings with less effort. There is no scratchy sound like I had from my old $20 bow. This, together with a better grade of rosin have made a pleasant improvement.

This violin is realy bad. You have to put the center wooden part in, the nobes for the string you have to push it in really hard or the string will unwine and when i got the box after school it was all beaten up on one side but it was in its case and ok. Don't buy this piece of crap.

Average Reviews:

I was pleased with the nice sound and durable construction of this instrument. The electronics aren't really high quality. Comes with a good case which is more than adequate for the instrument and an "ok" bow (I prefer to use a different one). With the power off, it still sounds like a very heavily muted violin which might be adequate for practice for some players.

D'Addario Prelude 4/4 Violin String Set Medium Gauge Review

D'Addario Prelude 4/4 Violin String Set Medium Gauge
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got my undergraduate degree in violin performance and have a daughter who plays the violin.
This is a great string for violins that are 1/2 size and smaller. The Dominant strings sounded muted and dull on my daughter's 1/16 size violin. The didn't respond quickly to the bow. Dominant is a great string for a 3/4 or full size violin beginner up to intermediate player. That is why I purchased them for the 1/16 sized violin. I talked to my daughter's teacher and he suggested the d'addario Prelude and I have been very happy with them. They are bright, clear, and respond well to the bow. They are not scratchy at all. A great string for smaller violins. By the way, beginners need a decent instrument or no string will sound good. You've got to pay $250 or more or rent a quality instrument.
