Full Size Violin 4 X 4 with Case - Metallic White Review

Full Size Violin 4 X 4 with Case - Metallic White
Average Reviews:

My experience with this product is great. I decided to start learning how to play violin. I decided to start with a cheap one. This one seemed like the way to go because the only negative reviews I read were contradicted by the helpful description. I paid only about 20 dollars for shipping and that was to receive it 3 days after I ordered. When I got it I just followed the instructions they sent to my email, installed the bridge, and tuned it. Then I plucked the strings to stretch them and retune a few times and before long they stopped slipping. It took a while, and reading up on rosin before I could get the bow to work but now I'm good to go, very happy with my purchase, and ready to find an instructor.

Stretto Humidifier for Violin, Viola and Small Instruments Review

Stretto Humidifier for Violin, Viola and Small Instruments
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I tried this humidifier for my daughter's 1/4 size violin because I couldn't find a small enough dampit style humidifier for her size. This is basically a clam shell style case which opens up to reveal a small package of dry granules. The idea is that you soak the bag in distilled water (I personally used tap water and it worked fine) and it swells up to a nice plump sac of gel which you place in side the clam case. The humidity from the water filled gel should exit through the holes of the case, thus humidifying your instrument. It lasts a long time, maybe a week or two before needing to wet it again. It of course depends on how dry your climate is. Very easy to use. The only problem is , if you have a small instrument case, you will have to figure out where to stick the stretto without causing friction/scratches to your violin. I placed ours near the edge where nothing would contact it.

Glasser X Series Carbon Graphite Black 4/4 Violin Bow with White Hair

Used the pure fiberglass version for years. The fittings and quality of Glasser is always impressive. This is a step up and plays very similar, similarly balanced as the fiberglass, a little lighter and more nimble as you would expect. Same quality fittings and I think a tremendous value for a rising player!

My daughter (8) loves this chinrest cover. It keeps all the "pokey" parts of her 11" viola (same body as a 1/4 size violin) comfortably cushioned. With this chinrest cover she does not need a separate shoulder rest.

Bow-Right for 1/16 - 1/8 Violin Review

My [...] son loves this toy, looks just like the watch Ben-10 wears and is very durable. It makes loads of cool noises and is great fun for role play. He used it for his Halloween costume and it continues to be one of his favorite toys. Slightly tricky to get on at first, but if you pull down on the strap and ease the rubber grips in place you'll get it. Would be even better if it had a real watch underneath, but still pretty cool.

I have a 440 Tuning Fork for my guitar that I purchased in 1975. My little brother got a guitar for Christmas and needed a tuning fork to help him keep his guitar in tune. This fork has the same vibrations as the one I bought back in 1975 and works Perfect.

The book has beautiful wedding music with piano accompaniment. The music is easy enough to play without a lot of practice putting the instruments together. I only wish it had more songs but it certainly has the classics.

Rogue VB100 Violin Bass Guitar Vintage Sunburst Review

Rogue VB100 Violin Bass Guitar Vintage Sunburst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I LOVE THIS LITTLE BASS!!! Only had it for two full days, yet, it's personality has grabbed my bass heart and shook it. Connected to my BX1B & Hartke 12" combo, it made sounds that made my imagination soar. Wonderful bass tones, crazy effects, making "pigs fly", and attempts at the "Jaco Growl".....LOVIN' IT!. Got a set of LaBella flatwounds on the way for some deep groove warm butta action. Excellent price, excellent product. Some production flaws like uneven markers above one fret, and after removing the pick guard(cheesy), the holes left leave small cracks around them. Wanted to leave the holes exposed, by decided to but the screws back in(lame), but overall, a BEAUTIFUL instrument with a wonderful character, just waiting for me to breath life into it when I get home from a hard day. Thanks to ROGUE for making this sound & technology affordable to us part-time Bass players, full-time Bass lovers.

Kun Collapsible Mini Brown Shoulder Rest for 1/16 - 1/4 Violin Review

Kun Collapsible Mini Brown Shoulder Rest for 1/16 - 1/4 Violin
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My daughter has been using a sponge shoulder rest for 1 year and recently moved up to 1/4 size violin.
I was hoping to find a shoulder rest that can accommodate 1/4 and 1/2 size so that she can use it for a couple years, but I couldn't find anything decent. So I ended up buying this one because I have a full size (4/4) collapsible one from Kun myself and I am reasonably happey with it.
The design of this one is the same as the full size one. The height of the shoulder rest is adjusted by turning the 2 screws in/out of the base, which is made entirely of plastic. It turns out that even at its maximal height (which is achieved by unscrewing the 2 screws as much as possible before they fall off the base), it is still not enough for my daughter whose neck is considered average or slightly longer than average if I look at kids in her class. I suspect many kids who try to use this with 1/4 violin may face similar problem. We end up wrapping a piece of cloth around the foam and still use it. The real problem is that when you have to use it at its maximal height, you have 2 metal screws into a plastic base in the minimal number of turns (to achieve the maximal height). Under this condition, a lot of stress is applied to the threads (out of the plastic base) which is going to wear out very soon. So the durability is questionable. In contrast, the full size one that I use have very long screws. So at least 1/3 of the screws are seated in the base, which reduces the wear of individual threads. I guess Kun can't use really long screws for this miniature model because the plastic pieces where the screws seat are much smaller than those in the full size one. That is the fundamental limit of the design when you try to make a shoulder rest to accommodate a wide range of violin sizes and kids with different neck length.
The bottom line: if you are buying this for 1/16 to 1/8 size of violin, it should be fine.
If it's for 1/4 and your kid has an average or long neck, you might want to consider the original Kun that is not collapsible but designed to accommodate 1/8 to 1/4 size violin.
If you intend to buy it and use it for a few years, I am not sure it will last.

Intelli IMT500 Clip-on Chromatic Digital Tuner for Strings Review

Intelli IMT500 Clip-on Chromatic Digital Tuner for Strings
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Intelli IMT-500--The tuner that killed the Intellitouch!
There are scores of chromatic tuners on the market. Most work by using a small built-in microphone that picks up sound waves. In order to be used effectively, the tuning space must be relatively quiet. Many of these tuners have input jacks that allow electric guitars to be connected directly and tuned by the electronic signal they produce. A bunch of years ago a variety of clip-on-microphones began to be marketed. The microphone could be clipped to any instrument and its cord attach to an electronic tuner. Now, anyone could tune an instrument no matter what the background noise.
Then, the Intellitouch tuner hit the market. The entire tuner clipped onto the instrument. One could tune an acoustic instrument in a noisy environment. There was no cord to deal with and the instrument could stay clipped to the headstock or quickly removed and slid into a pocket or case. Talk about convenience. Jams and festivals (bluegrass, folk, whatever) became seas of Intellitouch tuners.
Intellitouch owned the market even though there were so many situations where they did not work well. In particular, they have trouble with the bass notes of dreadnought sized guitars. The more overtones an instrument produces, the worse the tuner behaves. The bass string of a Martin rosewood dreadnought was near impossible to tune without using one of the many workarounds that owners developed. So, it was very much a love-hate relationship. The shortcomings were huge, but the convenience meant that they were tolerated.
Then, came the Intelli. It was an Intellitouch that worked, if not perfectly, then a whole lot better. The amazing thing is that the switch from Intellitouch to Intelli wasn't gradual. Within six months of its introduction, jams and festivals became seas of Intelli tuners. People were throwing their Intellitouches into drawers (if they weren't lucky enough to find a die hard holdout willing to buy one second-hand) to get the Intelli. That's a considerable investment to abandon. But, why not? The Intelli is half the price of the Intellitouch and works a whole lot better. They are so inexpensive that it's easy to justify getting one for the practice area and one for the case so that you don't have to worry about forgetting to pack it.
Anyone who will ever have to tune an acoustic instrument in a noisy environment will quickly find this tuner indispensable. And it works darn well in a quiet environment, too!
Highly recommended!

Kun Super 4/4 Violin Shoulder Rest Review

Kun Super 4/4 Violin Shoulder Rest
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have played the violin for over 8 years and used a Kun original and super for all of it except the last couple months. Kuns are very comfortable but fall off quite easily. The grips also wear off exposing the plastic interior which scratches the violin. This is why I suggest buying a Viva. They are similar in design but the Viva has much better grips and stability. It won't come off unless you want it to. That's why I love them.
I got my Viva at Ted Brown and due to varied preferences, I suggest that you try shoulder rests out, if you can, before you buy them.

Well, to start off...The strings suck, and so does the rosin. I've played the violin a little over seven years now, and this is good for it's price. It has a nice tone for being so lowly priced, but, not the best. When you play, the strings hurt your fingers(or atleast mine) and your fingers get all black from the neck. But all together it is decent.
