I used to play the cello so I was thrilled but I also know how the interest of a five year old can change quickly. At first I looked at some toys but did not see anything that would allow her to really play. I got this violin for her for Christmas. She was extremely happy and has played it everyday. It is a beautiful instrument and has great tone. The case and bow are also very good especially for the price. My daughter likes the backpack straps on the case and pretends that she is off to music school.
The kit also includes an extra bridge, strings and rosin. Considering the cost of video games etc these days, this is a GREAT BUY!
Note - I found a web site with instructions on how to measure your child to make sure you get the right size instrument.
